Our Founder & Executive Director - Raymond Ramirez

Since graduating from Cornell University in the early 1990s, Raymond Ramirez has published over 50 student anthologies working in dozens of schools with thousands of students, through organizations like Urban Word, Teachers and Writers Collaborative and the Caribbean Cultural Center, as well as independently. Ramirez is also one of the founders of the The Welfare Poets, the social justice music collective out of NYC, and a 2003 recipient of the prestigious Union Square Award for this work. Additionally, with the 2014 independent release of "No Human Being Is Illegal: The Story and Struggle of the Other Hidden People of Iceland," he is also a budding documentarian/videographer.
